FAQs
What is ADHD coaching?
ADHD coaching is a type of life coaching that focuses on the unique wiring of the ADHD brain. A certified ADHD coach helps you understand how ADHD impacts your brain, your daily life, and your overall goals. Coaching is a partnership: together we identify challenges, build practical strategies to manage them, and highlight your strengths, talents, and skills so you can live the life you desire and get in the flow.
What is executive function coaching?
Executive function coaching helps you strengthen the brain-based skills that support daily life—such as planning, organization, time management, task initiation, and emotional regulation. An executive function coach works with you to create personalized systems and strategies so you can stay focused, follow through on tasks, reduce overwhelm, and reach your goals at work, school, or home.
I don’t have ADHD, can you still coach me?
Of course! I’m also a certified life coach which means I can work with anyone who might have a gap in where they are and where they want to be. We can work on your short- and long-term goals, clarify any obstacles and come up with plans and strategies to achieve the life you want to be living.
How long of a time commitment will I need to make?
Adults: This will depend upon your unique situation. I usually recommend at least six month for major life changes. But smaller goals may be able to be achieved in shorter periods. I have ongoing, long-term clients. Past clients are always welcome to book “tune-up” calls or a few sessions to work on a specific problem. There is no financial obligation and any sessions paid for and not used can be refunded. But in general, plan on a minimum of at least 3 months weekly or bi-weekly.
Students: Students tend to need a longer term commitment because the coaching also includes accountability and ongoing support for high school and college. Often, we take the summers and holidays off and get back to coaching once the new semester begins.
Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not yet cover coaching, though this may change soon as the benefits of ADHD coaching are becoming more widely recognized in the medical community.
Check with your employer to see if they have a program to cover coaching. I do have several clients who do pay from their FSA/HSA.
